Poor Rudolf. You'd have to think this would be the logical (cynical ?) conclusion to the 1964 TV special that airs every Christmas. He was outcast from the start, and only accepted by Santa and the other reindeer once Rudolf proved to be useful to THEM. With GPS for your car running for under $100, you could say Rudolf would easily be outsourced (both Garmin and Tom Tom GPS units are manufactured overseas). Based on a true story. Located in Southern Ontario, the Region of Peel is comprised of the City of Brampton, City of Mississauga and the Town of Caledon.
The population of Peel is approximately one million, which represents 8.7% of Ontario’s population. It is growing rapidly. Peel has the second-fastest rate of population growth in Ontario and one of the fastest in Canada. This rate of growth puts pressure on every corner of the community and exacerbates many of the challenges faced. Keeping up with the growth has become virtually impossible for agencies seeking to deliver services and programs. Waiting lists for social services are increasing. Delays in receiving services can create new, more serious problems. Among the many problems are children with mental illness or developmental disabilities going untreated. The explosive population growth has precipitated an urgent need for an increase in social and health services, as well as housing, schools and transportation. But financial resources have been limited in addressing these issues. The waiting list for affordable housing is 21 years!

Just as recently as 4 years ago the Canadian Dollar was also known as the Canadian Peso; trading as low as 62 cents US. In the past year it's been on a tear rising to 98.5 cents US. Of course the downside is any manufacturer exporting from Canada is taking big hits in their profits and many have been forced to layoff workers. Where I work (in Canada) they estimate we lose $200,000 in profit every time our dollar goes up a single penny.... and they told us that about a year ago when it was around 75 cents US....
