2 Dollar bill from 1896 - Educational Note

Most collectors call an 1896 $2 silver certificate a “two dollar ed.” The “ed” part of the nickname refers to the fact that the note is part of the educational series. The full name of the 1896 $2 silver certificate at the time it was being produced in Washington DC was Allegory of Science presenting steam and electricity to commerce and manufacture. This is depicted with three women and two children. Each of the three educational notes ($1, $2, and $5) had something to do with scientific achievements or historical achievements. 1896 $2 silver certificates are actually fairly rare. Values range from something as little as $200 for a note in poor condition to $10,000 for a note in perfect condition.

[CARTOON] Wheelbarrow

"I got the idea for this one from all the 'money saving' tips that you see on both TV and the internet that really don't save the average intelligent person any money. Cook at home (duh), brown bag it to lunch (duh), make a list before you go shopping (duh), buy in bulk (duh), buy generics (duh), and my favorite is about Starbucks. Instead of buying a $6.50 Latte every morning, brew your own coffee."

[CARTOON] Rising Canadian dollar

Just as recently as 4 years ago the Canadian Dollar was also known as the Canadian Peso; trading as low as 62 cents US. In the past year it's been on a tear rising to 98.5 cents US. Of course the downside is any manufacturer exporting from Canada is taking big hits in their profits and many have been forced to layoff workers. Where I work (in Canada) they estimate we lose $200,000 in profit every time our dollar goes up a single penny.... and they told us that about a year ago when it was around 75 cents US....
