[RANDOM] The Solid Gold Hockey Puck

Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, Phil Esposito, is selling one of his most prized possessions: a solid gold puck he was awarded during his days playing for the Boston Bruins, one of four ever made. “[I got the gold puck] from the Boston Bruins the year all four of us scored over 100 points. Gold was not even on the market then,” Esposito told Kitco News.

So what does a solid gold hockey puck look like?  Here are some pictures of one that belonged to Bobby Orr.  It sold at auction for $16,500 way back in March 2007.  The price of gold at the time of this blog post was $1492US, making this puck's bullion value $25,935.

Description from the auction house:

A tremendous piece for serious Bobby Orr collectors to contemplate is this Boston Bruins hockey puck made out of solid gold! Yes, that’s right, a gold puck with “14K” stamped on the back and featuring a dandy enamel Bruins logo inlaid on the front. It was originally presented to Bobby Orr following the Bruins’ crazy offensive 1970-71 season that saw Boston smash NHL scoring records by firing 399 goals, almost a hundred more than the previous record of 303, set by the Bruins in ‘68-69. Phil Esposito, Orr, Johnny Bucyk and Ken Hodge finished 1-2-3-4 in the scoring race and Bruins management, wanting to commemorate the first time four players on the same team each finished with more than 100 points, presented the fab foursome with gold pucks. Heavy puck contains just under 30 ounces of gold (29.8 to be exact) and was given by Bobby to his good friend Alan Eagleson. Mr. Eagleson relates how it was originally in a fancy presentation box and how, fearing that something might happen to the puck, he had a replica produced, with this one fortunately heading for a safety deposit box. A swift move since the replica and the box did go missing over the years. The gold alone at today’s market prices is valued at over $13,000. One of the cornerstones of a Bobby Orr collection is what is offered here. Take your best shot in hopes of scoring this very special piece. Alan Eagleson’s signed letter of authenticity will be included.

[DESIGN] PULLED!

UPDATE:  My COVID-19 design is longer available due to snowflakes at redbubble.com censoring my design.  Does not seem to impact the 100+ other Corona/COVID-19 related designs on their website.  So much for free markets and letting the marketplace decide.  Demand for this design was the strongest I ever had in the first few days of launch, and after 2 days I even found a blatant copy of my design being sold on amazon.com!

Fortunately, this design is now available on CafePress at https://www.cafepress.com/dd/120969981

Available on over 115 different products. Shot glasses, aprons, pillows, stickers, bags, clocks, balloons, pins, magnets, and even thongs!
